A minimal distortion wide angle lens-unique in its class
innovative technology encased in a smart design
A lightweight option with no optical compromises
Our Firefly lens offers the same optical performance and high quality mechanism as our Blackstone, but its ultra lightweight construction makes it the perfect choice for hikers, travellers, or anyone who simply likes to pack light.
The ergonomic, anti-slip, rubber coated focus ring makes for a practical, user-friendly lens. This lightweight option is ideal for on the go photography, without any compromise on optical quality.
95mm front filter thread
The retaining ring of the frontal lens is free from engraving, printing or any other form of marking. This therefore prevents unwanted internal reflections when using high density filters.
Thanks to sophisticated optical construction and special neutrino coatings, colour aberration, ghosting and flare effects have been reduced to the absolute minimum.
Get more focused with focus lock. You can lock the focus ring at any time securing the setting that you choose. Precision, comfort and ingenious solutions.
Infinity click and hyperfocal scale
We have mastered infinity to the limits
The hyperfocal distance scale simply and intuitively gives information about accessible range for depth of field for a given aperture. When the ring is set in the “infinity” position, there is a noticeable “click”, making it easier to find the value without looking. Now you can fix your eyes on the image and concentrate on the composition.
extreme weather resistance
Irix lenses are made with phenomenal precision. Each Irix lens is equipped with a weather sealed construction which protects the interior against dust and moisture. Thanks to inner seals, our lenses are also protected from accidental water splashes.
intelligent filter options
We offer you excellent wide-angle lenses with front and rear filter options. Our lenses feature an ingenious way to easily access a rotatable filter through use of a window on the petal-shaped lens hood. Next to this, we have also included a rear filter slot for gelatin filters, offering you even more opportunity for filter use.

I have only had one chance to use the lens since I purchased it but this is what I found during that Milky Way landscape shoot:
The lens is well built, despite being the Firefly version it still feels solid. The focus ring has a smooth operation that’s just tight enough not to need the variable focus lock. Being manual focus only it has some useful features;
There’s a soft click as you turn the focus ring through infinity which is helpful especially in the dark. I still need to tune my cameras to this lens but I don’t think it’ll be far off. The lens still has focus electronics so it displays highlights in the viewfinder and live view screen when in focus.
Performance wise comparing it to my canon 14mm f2.8L mk1; very little chromatic abberation, much less unwanted lens flare, and sharper much further towards the edges. Less artefacts when shooting nightskies.
In conclusion, a sharp, well built, performing lens for a great price.
